From Pre-Event Buzz to Post-Event Connection

In early 2025, we collaborated with West Yorkshire Manufacturing Advisory Board to run Advancing Manufacturing Futures – an event designed to bring together manufacturing leaders in West Yorkshire.

Cultivating invaluable networking opportunities and fostering strong partnerships, the event has already sparked discussions for its return next year.

This necessitated the development of an adaptable web application, providing a valuable and reusable resource for this and future Advancing Manufacturing Futures events.

Our Objectives

From start to finish, the jam-packed event buzzed with valuable information from speakers and delegates.

To empower attendees with instant answers, we created a readily available resource for all their queries, whether it was identifying the Net Zero Workshop’s speakers or acknowledging the Business Panel’s sponsor. This information was accessible both leading up to and during the event.

Delegates were able to gain a thorough understanding of the event in the lead up to the day, enabling them to plan their interactions and fully immerse themselves in conversations. The web app provided comprehensive details, such as:

Full agenda of the day
Blurbs for each of the workshops and panels
Keynote speakers, Chairs and Speakers of each session and their bios
Event sponsors & exhibitors
Survey – so we were able to gauge which sessions would be busier than others, this allowed us to manage the room allocation
Info & FAQs – including an interactive Google map

What is a Web App?

Drawing on the success of the Nexus Anniversary Dinner at the end of last year, our events team understood the significant impact of web apps for events.

Due to the web app being built using the Glide platform, it allows accessibility from anywhere! By sharing a single URL, users can add a convenient shortcut to their home screen, granting immediate access to all content on any device with a web browser. This web app dynamically adjusts to fit any screen size and operating system, whether it’s a smartphone, tablet, or laptop, for effortless return visits.

As a result, our event communications team could efficiently provide delegates with all necessary information by simply embedding the URL in all marketing communications. This eliminated the need for extensive scrolling in emails and social media, offering instant access with a single click.

Leveraging the established branding of the West Yorkshire Combined Authority, our Creative Lead strategically designed the complete visual identity for the event. This foundational design was then seamlessly extended to fully brand the web app. Every element, from the colour palette and typography to the iconography and overall interface design, was carefully crafted to echo the authority’s core identity.

This consistent application of branding across the web app not only delivered a striking “WOW” factor upon access but also ensured a cohesive aesthetic throughout all email communications, social media, and on-site event signage, creating a unified and professional experience for delegates.
