Changes on Facebook Link Previews on Third-Party Apps

In the wake of the recent Fake News crisis that has scorned popular social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter, platforms are now beginning to put steps in place to prevent misinformation from spreading any further.

Facebook announced that they are tackling fake news by elongating their profile disapproval window for new accounts and the ability to edit link profiles and their metadata affecting third-party apps such as Hootsuite.

From the 18th of December Hootsuite users will no longer be able to customise link descriptions, images or titles. Users will have to solely rely on the metadata that is available as a default.

However, if you own the content you can use Facebook’s Business Manager Domain Verification tool as an alternative.

To do this you need to verify your domain by adding your domain into the Business Manager settings and verifying it by either using a DNS TXT record or uploading a HTML file.
