Lucky Number Three: Meet our newest team members!

Since the pandemic, our team has doubled in size! Our account management and content teams are significantly growing, and we don’t see any excuses to stop there! Meet our three newest team members; Charlotte, Nicole and Gabrielle!

Charlotte

Tell us a bit about yourself.

In my spare time, I love spending time with my friends and family, but mainly with my dog. I absolutely love travelling so have felt very restless for the past year with being unable to go anywhere! I’ve mainly travelled in South East Asia and bits of Europe, but I’ve got my eyes set on Australia, Sri Lanka and Japan next. I have a huge interest in sustainability and could definitely talk your ear off about it!

What is your role within Halston Marketing and what are you responsible for?

My role is Junior Marketing Executive and I work in the PR and Content team. I mainly work on content creation for clients such as SatSense and Imageco, including blogs, case studies and some PR pieces. I’ve worked on research papers and taken part in strategy sessions and I also run the social channels for Sustainability Partnerships!

Tell us one thing you’ve learnt in your time with the company.

So much already! I’ve been doing some great content marketing and SEO courses which have all been great but from working at Halston I’ve definitely learnt the value of working within a team in marketing, it’s so useful to be able to bounce ideas off of different people or even just having someone else on hand to read over your work and listen to your ideas.

Do you have any advice for aspiring marketing professionals?

Never stop trying to learn more, industries like marketing are constantly changing with different trends and new platforms to be looking out for. It’s definitely not something to become complacent in.

If you could meet one famous person, dead or alive, who would it be and why?

Vivienne Westwood! With my fashion background, I have always admired her work and how much of a disrupter she was when she was starting out. Everything she does has always made a statement and I feel like she would be such an interesting person to speak to. She also puts such a huge focus on the importance of sustainability in and out of her work in fashion which is one thing I love about her.

If you could work with one brand, who would it be and why?

There are so many I’d love to work with, I guess that’s one of the best things about working for an agency and getting to work with so many different brands. But I’d love to work with Patagonia, just because of the things the brand stands for, from supporting grassroots activists on the environmental crisis to the sustainable materials used in creating their outdoor wear. The way they market themselves is also very clever, one of my favourite campaigns they did was their ‘Don’t Buy This Jacket’ campaign. They basically urged consumers to think twice before buying something they might not need, which comes across as anti-marketing but actually did amazingly as it was great for PR on the sustainability front. I think they’d be really fun to work with.

Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

I’d love to have advanced my career in marketing whilst also possibly creating a small side business from a hobby, hopefully will be travelling as much as I can as I’ve still got so many places I want to go see. I would also love my own home, mainly so I can get my own dog!

Nicole

Tell us a bit about yourself.

Alongside working for Halston Marketing I also run my own small calligraphy business, creating hand-lettered wedding stationery, business boards, prints and cards. It was a passion that started at the beginning of 2020 and really took off in lockdown with people wanting to send cards and messages to their nearest and dearest that they couldn’t see.

What is your role within Halston Marketing and what are you responsible for?

I am a Strategic Account Manager. I am responsible for looking after our client’s overarching strategies and making sure we are always heading in the right direction with our marketing.

Tell us one thing you’ve learnt in your time with the company.

How can I narrow it down to just one?! It probably has to be how a marketing agency works. Coming from a sales background with little experience in marketing, it’s been fascinating to see and understand the process of how an agency works, especially Halston due to the deep-diving research that we provide for every client.

Do you have any advice for aspiring marketing professionals?

Dip into everything, focus on something – marketing is so broad, there are so many different avenues for you to go into. So explore them all, gain some experience and focus on what you want to specialise in!

If you could meet one famous person, dead or alive, who would it be and why?

Robin Williams. He is one of my favourite actors and lead such an interesting life with a tragic ending. I would love to meet him and listen to his story first-hand.

If you could work with one brand, who would it be and why?

I would love to work with McDonalds as I think their marketing is so simple yet so impactful and effective, they really tap into how consumers think. You can see just how much work has been done in building their brand recognition that they can even put half an ‘M’ on a bus stop and instantly you will know that it’s the ‘Golden Arches’.

I also think their annual collaboration with Monopoly is such a clever way to increase sales by encouraging more people to buy bigger meals to be in the chance of winning.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Happy and healthy whilst continuing to grow my marketing career and small business at the same time.

Gabrielle

Tell us a bit about yourself.

I’m a real foodie, constantly on the lookout for delicious recipes and sweet treats. I swear by Pret’s cookie recipe! I love the European way of living – I spent a year in Paris as an Au Pair and I’m still dreaming about the pain aux raisins! I’m also a keen skier and have three winter seasons under my belt – bluebird days are the best days.

What is your role within Halston Marketing and what are you responsible for?

I’m one of the Junior Marketing Executives and I’m responsible for a range of copy (like blog content & PR pieces) for our clients.

Tell us one thing you’ve learnt in your time with the company.

Every day is a school day – my notebook is already bursting with information, useful tips, and ways to improve my work.

Do you have any advice for aspiring marketing professionals?

Fake it ‘till you make it! I don’t have a marketing background, but I have loads of enthusiasm; I applied with a portfolio of unpaid copywriting work that I put together around previous jobs.

If you could meet one famous person, dead or alive, who would it be and why?

Renée Zellweger, not least because I’m a Bridget Jones fanatic. I don’t think a character has ever been so relatable or portrayed so accurately.

If you could work with one brand, who would it be and why?

The epitome of luxury and class, Chanel; it’ll never go out-of-style.

Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

Honestly? I don’t know. I like to think I’ll have a wealth of knowledge related to the field of content and PR with a busy portfolio of work that reflects this. (Though in an ideal world, I’ll be sipping an Aperol Spritz on the Italian Riviera…)
